Although it's too early to predict the next harvest, we can nevertheless draw some first impressions: The rainy spring led to the development of mildew, which our organic treatments were unable to eliminate completely. As a result, Grenache grapes were affected, with a significant loss of harvest estimated at 30 to 50%, depending on the plot. But this had no impact on the quality of the grapes to come. Syrah and Carignan, on the other hand, were unaffected and look very good at this stage. The harvest will therefore be less abundant. But we hope it will be just as high-quality as 2019. The whites, Viognier, Grenache blanc and Roussanne too.
Véraison, which is well advanced on the plains, continues in our high-altitude plots, with a time gradient of around 15 days from bottom to top. We have already protected our plots from wild boar with electric fencing, which we check regularly, without waiting for véraison to finish.
We had a little rain at the end of July, but August looks dry.
In conclusion: it's got to rain. The harvest is expected to be significantly less abundant, and probably a week earlier than in 2019.
